I was cycling today, like my normal routine and it was early hours of the day. Sun was just rising. Sun was a bit behind me and was at a low altitude. Though the traffic was less, it was a typical urban traffic which was comprising of heavy vehicles and cars. Now, before any vehicle would approach, actually, its shadow would arrive first. Long shadow! It would make me feel a bit overwhelmed and influenced due its expanse. The car / bus / truck would arrive a bit later. I observed that these vehicles were quite away and were on their own track. They were not nearby to frighten me or disturb me. Just the long shadows were making this difference. They passed by and next would arrive.

As I thought on my way, I could relate these shadows to those tall personalities we meet in our life, and who have greater stature at that time and have more influence on us. We are mesmerized by them and also try to follow their achievements. Actually, they are in their own zone of profession and they have your presence in their work-zone as junior colleagues and efficient co-worker. However, we tend to think a bit too-much and are overwhelmed to such an extent that we imitate these long shadows!! Just as every vehicle is different, and each is taking a different path in their journey, each of us have our own path, priorities and aspirations! Any shadow influencing us is unhealthy and at times, toxic!!
And the funny part is, if we travel facing the rising sun’s direction, the shadows may still be longer, but they are all behind you!!! This is other way of looking at the same process. If shadows have to be dodged, travel head on!! It may not be always easy, but it surely is a way!!
An interesting thought but is it not that sometimes we need these influencing shadows in our life.

Yes Yes. They are surely required. But not all. The good ones are important!! The idea is to not be highly overwhelmed by them. Learn, observe and then get on our own path. Everyone has their own journey.. is the key..
